It has taken Frank most of his life to become a hunter.

We always thought his crossed eyes might be the reason. Maybe it affected his depth perception. Maybe it made the hunt just a little harder. But Frank didn’t give up. And when he finally started catching prey—cicadas, frogs, the occasional rodent—he made sure everyone knew.

Frank has a very specific meow for those moments. It’s not a regular “hello” or “I’m hungry” sound. It’s his victory cry. And when you hear it, you know exactly what it means: “I did it. I caught something. Look at me.”

He carries his prize around the house like a badge of honor. He’s proud of what he’s done, and he doesn’t hide it.

And honestly, neither should we.

I’m the kind of person who doesn’t like to advertise my achievements. I tend to stay quiet, especially at work. I’ve done things in marketing that, frankly, some of my managers probably wish they had thought of. But I kept my head down, let the results speak for themselves, and didn’t make noise.

Looking back, I think that hurt me. I didn’t exaggerate or brag—but I also didn’t claim my success. And because of that, some of my biggest contributions went unnoticed. It likely slowed down my career growth.

Frank doesn’t have that problem. He announces every success with confidence and clarity. Not to boast, but to be recognized.

There’s a lesson in that.

We don’t have to brag. But we do have to speak up. We have to let people know what we’ve accomplished, especially when we’ve worked hard for it. Because staying quiet won’t always get you where you deserve to be.

So be like Frank.

Carry your wins with pride. Let people hear your success. And never apologize for being good at something you fought hard to learn.
